Description

This intervention by architect Pedro Gadanho, reveals how an architecture project is a form of combat and a transformation that re-qualifies existing reality. Part of a neighbourhood with twinned houses and built on a budget, the project expanded a basic area of 40 square meters up to 110 square meters – almost with no visibility of the intervention from the exterior. It is a careful exercise that takes advantage of the interior of a confined space and very compartmentalized that now reveals space, light and perspectives non-existing before. The transmutation occurs when all existing volumes are radically taking advantage of – excavating now and then, and a chirurgical extension of the roof – and installation of some “functional parasites” (an expression of the author) that in formal and colour contrast look to solve the necessities of inner life.
